World Alphabet Map

Typographic World Map - MediterraneanTypographic maps – maps built entirely from the written word -seem to be ten a penny these days.

Taylor Hayward’s clever spin on the idea is to use individual characters in a world map constructed from the alphabet each country uses. Described as a labor of love the map comprises 10,000 characters in 25 fonts, and apparently took about 100 hours to put together – Wow!

Check out the full map images on Taylor’s blog.   Or in this zoomable, zoom.it map (MS Silverlight required)

Greece and Turkey has the wrong alphabets. Greece looks like it has latin and Turkey looks like it has Greek, it should be reverse.
