The peopling of the world

Journey of Mankind, from the Bradshaw FoundationThe Journey of Mankind is an interactive presentation from the Bradshaw Foundation showing human migration over the past 160,000 years. The guide has been produced in association with geneticist Stephen Oppenheimer, based on the recent African origin of modern humans theory espoused in his popular science book Out of Eden / The Real Eve.

Based on Genetic evidence, archaeology, climatology and fossil study the map reveals the affect climate and natural disasters had on population during this time. Starting with the earliest humans you get a step by step animated guide to humanity’s journey across the continents, with detailed pop-up information available at every stage.

The application itself seems to be fairly old, so it would be interesting to see it updated to reflect new evidence.
