Six years of edits to the OS Mastermap

The UK’s national mapping agency, the Ordnance Survey (OS), claims to produce the largest, most detailed and up to date map of any country in the world. Mastermap, as it’s known is compiled by 250 surveyors, 2 aircraft, has 5,000 edits every day and is never more than 6 months out of date.

To highlight it’s work the OS has released this short time-lapse animation showing 6 years of changes to a small portion of the map, part of north-west Swindon, demonstrating the dramatic changes that occur over the country every day.
