Mapping Egypt’s Revolution

This weekend the New York times and BBC have come up with a couple of superb map presentations covering the events in Tahrir Square, Cairo.

The New York Times delivers a timeline of the anti-Mubarak uprising. The interactive, animated time line combines a 3d map with photos and videos and explaining how events panned out during the 18-day demonstrations, Egyptian Government’s capitulation and President’s eventual resignation.

BBC World has a clickable aerial view which allows you to explore various parts of the protesters’ camp. A mixture of the practical: food stalls, a kindergarten and rubbish bins – and sobering: a wall of martyrs, street hospital and tanks.
