Impressive New UK Crime Mapping Tool

The Guardian Newspaper partners with Spatialkey to launch a powerful, slick new crime mapping tool. The Flash application employs a dual Google maps interface to enable direct comparisons between different crime types and/or locations across England and Wales

Crimes are indicated by heatmaps over bigger areas, and when you zoom-in through circular markers on each street, labelled with crime totals.

The application follows hot on the heels of the UK Government’s own website,  which launched with much fanfare, ridiculous levels of traffic and an inevitable server crash a couple of weeks ago.
