Google puts Art on the Map

Google Art Project, Hans Holbein - The Ambassadors

Last week saw Google launch a gorgeously interactive web app,   allowing you to sample some the world’s finest art inside some world famous galleries. It features:

  • 17 galleries
  • 1000 works of art
  • Amazingly hi-res zoom-able images some with nearly 7 billion pixels
  • Navigate around with Street View interiors of the museums

See this at the Google Art Project website.

Or if you just fancy a wander around the galleries without the high- resolution artwork, check out Street view via this link in Google maps, or in Google Earth by dragging the yellow peg man icon onto one of the featured museums.
