Global Growth in Mens’ Waistlines Since 1980


From the Economist a chart showing the increase in male BMI (body mass index) since 1980. The maps are based on a study led by Professor Majid Ezzati of Imperial College and show obesity as mainly a rich-world problem. As countries have developod economically, waistlines have expanded too, the one significant exception being India.
