In a cost cutting move, the United States Government is proposing to sell off or demolish a significant portion of its property portfolio. Saving an estimated $15 billion over three years. A new interactive map from the Whitehouse plots out around half the 14,000 structures designated as surplus. Everything from sheds, through to office buildings, bridges even a railroad and a weapons range.
The map shows numbers of excess buildings by state. Zoom in and you can narrow this down to cities, smaller areas and in some cases precise locations of structures. You can also grab a CSV file of all the properties to peruse by spreadsheet.
