Creating a photographic atlas of the moon

A bite-size video from NASA Goddard highlighting the work of the LRO (Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter). The spacecraft’s wide angle is currently building a super detailed photographic atlas of the moon. Mapping out every mountain,  crater and rill.

Maybe not as glamorous as some of NASA’s other planetary missions, but apparently in terms of data volume this one probe is collecting as much as all the others combined.

Some impressive zooming in this, so worth switching to HD and full screen.

More info.
