Christchurch Earthquake Causes Huge Chunk of Ice to Break from Glacier

The Terra satellite captured this false colour thermal image 11 days after the devastating earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand.
It shows icebergs on Tasman lake (silver coloured) – 200km due west of the city. The result of a 30 million ton piece of ice breaking off the (dark brown) Tasman Glacier. triggered by the earthquake.
